2014 NFL Draft: Teddy Bridwater Scouting Report

Teddy Bridgewater Scouting Report

 Strengths

Football IQ: Bridgewater is the football equivalent of a gymrat. he's a true student of the game and it shows on the field. Bridewater is in command at the line of scrimmage and is especially good at reading coverages and blitzes, seems to always get his team into the right play.

Accuracy: Bridgewater's accuracy and ball placement is very good on short to intermediate routes. Bridgewater excels in the small nuances of the game, his mechanics are great and he delivers the ball with touch when it's needed.

Pro Ready: Will be ready to start for a team day one. Work ethic, temperament and drive guarantee that he will be up for the challenged mentally and prepared to lead his team.

Pocket Pressence: Very comfortable in the pocket, keeps his eyes downfield even when pressured, has enough mobility to create when pressured or nothing is there. Very difficult to rattle.

Mechanics: Bridgewater is fluid in his drop and his deliver is smooth. The only concern that some have is that it may be low, but this concern is usually overblown.

Weaknesses

Lack of competition: During his college career, he didn't play against men that will be playing on Sunday. He wouldn't be the first QB from a small school to have success in the NFL, but he also wouldn't be the first who flopped either.

Good not great: Bridgewater is solid in all areas but not elite in any. He doesn't have one skill that blows scouts away.

Rich man: Russell Wilson
Middle Class: Alex Smith
Poor man: Sam Bradford

IBS projection: At worst you will get a competent game manager who won’t lose games. With Bridgewater’s drive and work ethic it’s hard to believe  his ceiling would be that low. He’s already put on ten pounds of muscle to answer some of his critics, that’s a good sign. However he’s not a player that can put a franchise on his back. If you draft Bridgewater you are getting a solid to potentially above average Qb.
