The Dark Knight Rises Trailer
Thank God for Piracy. The DKR trailer was leaked over the weekend so Warner Brothers decided to go ahead and make honest women of us and release the real deal.
Thoughts
- Bane looks Badass, and I love the idea that he's a terrorist.
- Like many I've had my doubts about Anne Hathaway as Catwoman, but she is great in the trailer. Though most of it is her being Selina Kyle not Catwoman.
- From the trailer it looks as though the movie is going to be on a much larger scale than the previous two. One of the things that made the Nolanverse version of Batman so good is that its as close to real life as possible. I hope that's not lost. However I trust all things Nolan so enjoy.

A Football only look at Tim Tebow
“That part of it was very unique to me,” said Gase, who has been with two other NFL teams as an assistant. “I never heard of a college guy who would know so much about offenses outside of college.”
Summary: Tebow's Preparation is off the charts. When he interviewed for the combine he knew most of the teams offenses. He also is the first one ton practice and the last one to leave. His preparation is borderlkine obsessive texting is offensive coordinator in the wee hours of the morning.
“Everything has to do with his feet,” Gase said. “Before, his body was going in one direction and his arm was going in another direction. As we get him more balanced, his throws become smoother and more accurate.”
Many seem to think that Tebow's throwing motion is ok but he can improve other things like his footwork. This remains to be seen, I can't ever see him ever being a successful passer with that throwing motion.
No one knows what's going to happen with Tebow but whether he succeeds or fails won't be from a lack of effort.

God's Quarterback
In the case of Mr. Tebow, what seems to fuel many of his fans—and to drive many
of his critics crazy—is not so much his evangelical faith itself but the
equanimity and generosity that his faith inspires in him. Can he really mean it
when he says that football isn't that important to him, that he caresmoreabout
transcendent things?

Movies I'm excited about
Denzel is my favorite actor by far but that's another blog post. Anything he appears in I'm pretty much down for. However safe house combines my love of Denzel with my love of Spy-Fi. Denzel looks bad ass in this movie as only Denzel can. Oh yeah Ryan Reynolds is in it too.
Kolb helped beat the Eagles without taking a snap.
According to Philly.com. Kevin Kolb shared his knowledge of the Eagles playbook and tendencies to his new team. This would explain why the Eagles had such an awful time with the putrid Zona Defense. Below is a quote from Kolb.
"During the two-minute drill, you almost feel guilty," Kolb said with a laugh. "Mike's sitting there giving the signals, and I'm standing there on our sideline, screaming at our corners: 'Hey, it's a go ball. Hey, he's running a screen. Hey, he's running a slant."
Seems rather obvious that you would change things up when facing your former starting Qb. But hey maybe that's just me.

RIP Smoking Joke
My life as a sports fan has been influence by two men. My dad and my Uncle Ken. They would get together on the weekends and watch games. This was a necessity because my Uncle was too cheap to buy cable. The result was the sports addicted man that stands before you today. More fascinating than the games that went on were the stories. They spoke of Howard Cosell and two epic titans of boxing named Joe Frazier and Mohammed Ali. I soaked these stories in like a newborn does milk. As I got older I researched the rivalry myself, reading every book I could find on the subject, watching documentaries, and watching replays of the fights. I've viewed each of them in their entirety a few times.
Note that these events all took place years before my birth. The fight was and is the biggest sporting event in our nation's history because it was in essence our second civil war. White vs Black. Liberal vs Conservative, Pro war vs Anti war, hippies vs people that have a job.(had to throw that in)
America symbolically hitched their wagons to these two fighters and they took them for a decade long ride they would never forget.
RIP Smoking Joe Frazier.

NFL Report Card
A plus- Cream of the crop
Green Bay Packers: Its officially time for to start the undefeated talk. Can they do it? I'm not sure but Aaron Rodgers is playing on a level that few if any have ever seen.
A- Legit contenders
Baltimore Ravens: They've had a few hiccups but Flacco has been very impressive over the last two weeks. He may be finally over the hump.
Pittsburgh Steelers: Though they've shown signs of aging, the Steelers will still be a tough out come January.
B Plus- Playoff bound with flaws
Patriots- If Tom Brady has the ball in his hands at the end of the game, odds are the Pats. If he doesn't.....(see Sunday)
49ers- The niners are legit. The question is how legit? They play a physical style that relies on getting ahead early. If they get behind can Alex Smith carry them to victory.
Saints- At home the Saints are hard to beat, on the road they are average at best. They still have a suspect running game and defense. Brees' brilliance might not be enough.
Giants They have a tendency to play to the level of their competition, they also have a tendency to start fast and fade down the stretch. Eli has looked phenomenal can he keep it up?
B- Wild card contenders who could make a deep run in the playoffs
Eagles- The Eagles are finally hitting their stride, honestly what did we expect from the dream team? They underwent a huge facelift during the off season and they had a short off season to jell. They've learned on the job and may be the most dangerous team in the league. Look out.
Falcons - The Falcons offense has been largely disappointing , mostly due to offensive line issues. It remains to be scene if the dirty birds can make a serious run at the title, but they'll be around come playoff time.
Lions America's Sweethearts have gone Lindsey Lohan. The leagues dirtiest team was every ones preseason dark horse and they didn't disappoint. Their lack of a running game and ability to stop the run will be their undoing.
Jets- While people predicted their demise, the Jets did what they always do, peak late. The Jets have been to the last two conference finals, and there's no reason to think they won't be at a third.
Bills: Very few people saw this season coming for the Bills. However things are about to get extremely difficult for the Bills schedule wise. Getting in the playoffs will be tough.
Texans: Surprisingly the Texans have weathered the losses of Mario Williams and Andre Johnson relatively well. Unless they collapse they will win the division and gain a playoff berth.
B minus- Don't sleep on them
Bucs- The Bucs are young and inconsistent(which go hand and hand) Freeman has seemingly regressed but the Bucs are in every game and still shines in the 4th quarter.
Bengals- If the Bengals go 6-2 in the forest will anyone care? Answer? No. The Bengals have a a great defense and the pass connection of the future in Dalton and AJ Green.
Bears- The Bears were a quarter away from the Super Bowl. The Bears are always solid. If others trip up they will prove that slow and steady wins the race.
C Plus
Cowboys- America's team is as inconsistent as they come, but they can play with anyone.
Chargers- Speaking of inconsistent its time to start calling the Chargers Dallas West.
C- Mediocre
Raiders- Hue Jackson called the Carson Palmer trade the greatest ever. Palmer's thrown 6 picks in 6 quarters.
Chiefs: The Chiefs started the season by being out scored 89-10 in their first two games, the Chiefs bounced back winning four games in a row, only to be humiliated by the winless Dolphins last Sunday.
C Minus Average on a good day
Broncos- Tebow wins em ugly, but he still wins em. (some of em anyway)
Browns-A truly mediorce team, but for this franchise Mediocre is an upgrade.
D
Redskins- They started out well and then they remembered they were the Redskins.
Carolina- The most exciting 2-6 teams in history, Cam Newton is electric, the Panthers defense is not.
Jaguars- When you cut your starting Qb the Friday before the season starts you can't expect much.
Vikings- They are showing life with Christian Ponder under center.
Cardinals- Kevin Kolb is not good.
Seahawks-Not good enough(bad enough?) to Suck for Luck so they settle for just sucking.
F Sucking for Luck
Colts- When you lose your Head Coach and Starting QB in the same season you're going to struggle.(I didn't mistype that)
Rams- They shouldn't be this bad. Injuries have killed them
Dolphins They proved that they had some fight in them over the last two weeks but they are awful.

There's something about Tebow
Why is it that Tim Tebow engenders so much passion from both his detractors and supporters? On the surface what’s not to like? He’s handsome, charismatic, passionate and yes as we are told so often told, he's a winner.
Tebow’s iconoclasm is nothing new, it plays out in every walk of life.Human beings tend to place people in nice neat little boxes. We have an idea of what certain things should look like. Black people listen to rap, white people listen to country. Asian people are smart, etc… (I’d love for my race to have that stereotype)Anytime someone jumps outside of our prepackaged boxes, it is as if the America’s collect brain can’t comprehend it.
Marshall Mathers(could he have a whiter name) better known as Eminem, is as talented as anyone in the rap game, yet he was initially(and still is by some) rejected by hardcore hip hop fans. The same thing happened to Larry Bird. A white man in a black man’s game. It works the other way around too. Why has Tiger Woods become an international icon? Dominance? Jack and Arnie were dominate too. Tiger stands out because he’s a person of color playing the ultimate white man’s game. We are such creatures of habit, slaves to the norm, that we are unable to handle deviations from the status quo.
A bi-product of this phenomenon is that if these men experience success they instantly become superstars. How many nonathletic white guys, who spent their entire childhoods being picked last on the playground and still get schooled at the gym by the “brothers”, lived vicariously through Larry Legend? How many black guys watched Tiger win the masters and felt like it was a blow to Whitey, a pay back for every time they were stopped by police or followed in a store?
Whenever ever someone crosses a genre the people within the genre reject the genre crosser. It’s not just a racial. Singer Jewel recently released a country album. How that work out for her? Tim Tebow is one of the rarest of genre crossers, the running white quarterback. Tebow turns our lazy football paradigms on their head, a white man, in a mostly black sport, playing a white position like a black man.(still with me?) Tebow stirs up emotions, stereotypes and even religion.
After years of expecting white quarterbacks to stand in the pocket like statues and black quarterbacks tap dancing through it like Sammy Davis Jr., no one knows what to make of Tebow.
To add even more fuel to the fire, here comes a lighting bolt from heaven. Tebow is an Evangelicals dream. He doesn’t smoke, drink and is a self professed virgin. If there is a more powerful motivator and argument starter in our society than race, its religion. Tim Tebow is the Christian superman, son of Christian missionaries who two summers ago traveled to the Philippines to help with poor, even circumcising a young child in need. Tebow is manna from heaven for the Christian sports fan. Sports are already superstitious on their own, you add the irrationality that relgion can bring and you have a Category 5 hurricane on your hands.
It doesn’t help that Tebow’s “it” factor is off the charts. He’s everything you want your son to be and your daughter to marry. Except I’d have taught my son how to throw a football. Tim Tebow has undoubtedly always been the biggest, strongest and fastest on the field. He’s similar to his biggest fan Lebron James. The king praised Tebow via Twitter, following his come back win over the Dolphins “Congrats to @TimTebow for that comeback win today. Impressive! He’s just a winner.”
This is not the first time Lebron has used the Twittersphere to stick up for Tebow. Perhaps Lebron sees a bit of himself in Tim. He should. Tim and Lebron are proceeded by such legends as Shaquille O’neal and Wilt chamberlain. Men of immense talent who didn’t get the most out of their god given abilities. In this case with the three basketball players, none of them pushed themselves to improve their weaknesses because their athletic abilities allowed them to coast. Shaq has four titles you say? Can you really picture Shaq winning anything without Kobe or D-Wade.
Tim Tebow learned at a early age that he was bigger, faster and stronger than everyone else. The problem is, athleticism will take you a lot further in basketball than it will in football. Football is a far more technical sport. To make matters worse for Tebow, he plays the most technical position in all of sports.
Lebron, Wilt and Shaq couldn’t shoot but could still average 30 points a night. Tim Tebow can not dominate the NFL on physicality alone.
A quarterback must step into a huddle and reel off incredibly tongue twisting verbiage, step to the line of scrimmage, read the defense, adjust his offense to whatever presnap indicators the defense presents. He must then call out a cadence(one that must vary, lest the defense catch on to it and get a jump on the snap)Next he drops back into the pocket with perfect footwork , all the while going from his pre snap read to his post snap read. Finally he must deliver the ball on time and on target. Oh yeah, he’s supposed to do all of this(from snap to throw) in 1.5 seconds.
The question is why is Tim Tebow, a high school and college All-American is so devoid of the technical skills necessary to make him successful at the NFL level.
One word. Winning.
The win at all cost mentality that is prevalent from college to Pop Warner. At the earliest stages of development coaches now teach systems instead of fundamentals. We don’t need to teach kids how to take a snap and a hand off. We can run the spread option. The result is poor Somewhere along the way a coach had a chance to improve Tebow’s throwing motion. They didn’t, why? Because it would take too much time, it could cost them a game or two. Our society no longer rewards patience and development, even in places where it should.
Tebow is that kid in school who memorized his times tables, and aced math until he tackle to long division, he never learned the basic principles so he struggles. In life, short cuts always catch up to you. For Lebron, and Wilt, the NBA finals was their day of reckoning. For Tim Tebow that day is coming very soon.

Dead men tell no tales.
It’s been nearly twenty years since Charles Barkley’s ground breaking I am not a role model commercial. Chuck caused quite a stir back then but the dirty little secret of the faux controversy was that Charles was right. Maybe the American public is finally ready to listen.
Now yet another role model has been exposed as being…well human. This time it’s Walter Payton who finds himself in the crosshairs of the buildup/tear down media culture. There’s just one problem, Payton isn’t here to defend himself.
Until recently Walter Payton had been a shining example of what an athlete could be. So revered is Payton that the NFL’s man of the year award bears his name. Payton had the good fortune to have played in an era that predated the explosion of ESPN and the internet. That changed last week when Sports Illustrated published an excerpt from Jeff Pearlman’s upcoming book. The book alleges that Sweetness was a drug addicted philandering depressive who spent his final years in misery.
Last Friday on the Dan Patrick radio show, Pearlman confessed his undying love for Payton and was shocked by the blowback from the SI article and impending book. Pearlman’s claim is that his book is really a love letter to his flawed hero. The excerpts were only a small part of the book.
The question I’ve asked myself is why? Why is this being written years after Payton’s death? Who gains from this? Furthermore what’s the point? It would easy to say that this is a money grab. but that conclusion is too easy.
We live in a TMZ, Real housewives, HBO 24/7, Hard knocks world. We feel it’s our right to know everything there is to know about our heroes. There are no secrets; we strip everything away until we see our heroes naked and very ashamed.
Again the question I ask why. Pearlman sounded genuine in his desire to chronicle Payton’s life for the historical record. Excuse me? I’m sorry is Walter Payton now Bill Clinton or JFK? He was an athlete, nothing more nothing less. We worship our athletes, we give them platforms that they are not worthy of and are unprepared for. In the end they are no different than any other powerful man with a bank account full of zeroes.
Sweetness provided us with entertainment, not a cure for cancer or Middle East peace. Why do we need to know about his personal life? The same reason I searched couldn’t find a copy of Time magazine on the newsstands at convenience stores. . We don’t care about substantive things anymore. I couldn’t find an issue of Time, but I was inundated with US Weekly, The Enquirer, and OK magazine. We’ve either become so bored, or stressed that we’d rather follow the lives of the rich and famous than live our own.
I want to know what Sofia Verga looks like naked, but it doesn’t mean I should wait for her to step out of the shower and snap a picture. Pearlman is nothing more than a peeping tom looking into blinds that should stay closed. Worse Pearlman takes a picture while he’s there and posts it on the internet. It’s a violation of privacy and decency and in a truly civil society there wouldn’t be a market for a book of this kind.
Pearlman doesn’t shoulder all of the blame. Pearlman is a product of a voyeuristic culture. Writing, like music is often a reflection of the times an artist lives in. In a world where Snookie and not so real housewives can parlay reality shows into B list stardom, is it any wonder Pearlman would be inspired to write a tell all about Sweetness?
Most disturbing of all these tarnishes Payton’s legacy more than it would the average sports hero. Payton’s legacy is Chicago, his brand as it were, was built on hard work, character, and perseverance. Payton is beloved in Chicago not because of championships but because of the years he slogged on bad teams, turning in heroic performances while surrounded by futility. He’s the everyman who wakes up every day punches the clock, goes home and gets up and does it all over again the next day.
If this were MJ no one would care. In fact this happened to MJ and no one cared. The Jordan legacy is built on accomplishment. Accomplishments can’t be taken away. But you can take away a man’s integrity. You can attack his character by exposing his foibles and failings.
If Pearlman had written this book with Payton’s permission this would be a different story. It would be the tale of a flawed hero reflecting on his life, his triumphs and mistakes. Instead we have a man’s most private moments that he never intended to share. It’s one thing for Hope Solo to appear half naked the cover of a magazine, it’s another to have yourself recorded the way Erin Andrews was.
Pearlman’s claims don’t ring true because he has knew exactly what was going into SI, in fact his claims were so eye popping, it grabbed the cover.. If his true desire was to give a complete portrait of the man, then those quotes would not have been included in SI. Pearlman wants to see his name atop the New York Times best seller list. Seduced by his own self importance he allowed SI to publish an excerpt that he claims is not indicative of the book as a whole.
Pearlman’s pulling a Deon here. During his Hall of Fame speech Prime shielded himself from critics by claiming that all of the criticism that he endured was a byproduct of trying to provide for his mother. Pearlman is no different really; he uses his purported love and admiration for Payton to shield himself from the fact that he robbed a dead man’s grave. Instead of stealing jewels he stole memories, forever tarnishing a man’s name. In the end that’s all any of have left.

Summer Reads
Booklist *Starred Review* Coben, the reigning master of clockwork suspense, and winner of the trifecta of mystery-writing honors--the Edgar, the Agatha, and the Shamus--produces a fascinating hybrid thriller here. Coben began his career writing detective novels starring Myron Bolitar, an ex-Celtics basketball player turned entertainment agent. For the past six years, he has concentrated on stand-alone thrillers. Coben's novels are noted for their use of technology, both as weapons used against the innocent and as ways for victims to escape their tormentors, usually with a clock ticking ominously in the background. In Promise Me, Coben skillfully grafts this deadline suspense onto the career of his series hero, Bolitar. As in his stand-alones, the novel starts with a purely domestic situation--at a party in his home, attended by friends and their offspring, Bolitar overhears two teen girls talking about driving home drunk from parties. Stung by his own memory of a high-school friend who died in a car crash, Bolitar makes the girls promise to contact him if they ever need a lift or are in trouble. The call does come a few nights later. Myron drives the caller to a friend's house, but she ends up disappearing, and guilt-ridden Myron must use all his resources to try to find what happened. Coben's resurrection of Bolitar works superbly: the melding of high suspense and high technology with a somewhat battered, very canny, questing hero is sure to produce another major hit for the way-hot Coben. From Booklist
Patterson's latest absorbing thriller centers on a timely topic, a heated presidential primary. Corey Grace is a war hero turned moderate Republican senator who is considering a run for president. Honest and somewhat unpredictable, he is reluctant to get into a race he knows will be drawn out and ugly. Complicating matters is his burgeoning relationship with Lexie Hart, an African American actress who also happens to be a liberal and a former heroin addict. Once he enters the race, Corey faces two fierce opponents: Rob Marrotta, a senator groomed from infancy for the presidency who is willing to do anything to win the nomination, and Bob Christy, an earnest but unrelenting evangelical. The contest comes down to two hot-button topics: stem-cell research and gay rights, and Corey's views do not match those of his opponents or the most conservative voters in his party. Marrotta's unscrupulous campaign manager makes it his mission to smear both Corey and Bob Christy, bringing the men together in an unexpected way. Initially readers will recognize similarities between actual political figures and Patterson's characters, but once the story starts cooking, the characters step beyond their molds. For anyone fascinated by how American politics works, this is a gripping read. Huntley, KristineBy Ted Dekker

Lebron James: American Son
The Lebron James story, it should be one of those “only in America stories” A boy raised by a single mother of modest means makes it big as a pro athlete. During this series, the first one in which the Heat have been truly tested. I’ve been taken aback by the level of emotion James evokes. Why do people so passionately hate Lebron James?
Is he a premadonna? Yes but certainly not to the level of a Chad Johnson, Terrell Owens or even Brett Farve. He’s never had a run in with the law. Off the court he’s a model citizen, on it he’s perhaps the most unselfish player in recent memory. So why is America so hard on Lebron James?
You know the knocks on King James, he isn’t clutch, and he shrinks from big moments. He doesn’t want to be “thee“guy, he quit on Cleveland, can’t win the big one. James is not the first athlete to take a while to figure out how to win the big one. Michael Jordan found himself trapped between the Celtic and Piston dynasties. The “air” apparent Kobe Bean Bryant shot air balls against the Jazz in his first big series. So again I ask the question why are we so hard of King James?
He’s America’s Son. James is the talented kid who we all see the potential in and are disappointed because he doesn’t or hasn’t made good on it. James came into the NBA with the expectation that he would one day become the greatest player of all time. Lofty expectations only enhanced by a PR campaign that started with televised games in high school, branding himself the King and stating that we were all “witnesses”. To what I’m not sure but I’m assuming it was a reference to his greatness.
In many ways James is a symbol of everything that’s right with America, handsome, young, rich, smart, immensely talented and a marketing juggernaut He also represents what’s wrong with our culture, oversaturation, anointing before accomplishment and the hype machine. Lebron became a product long before he became a professional basketball player.
A basketball prodigy the rules have rarely applied to Lebron, he is a mostly self taught, self motivated basketball genius. The outside forces that did influence Lebron are and were more concerned by what they can get out of him than what they can do for him.
You think Bron’s AAU coach or high school coach really got on him? Treated him like everyone else? Lebron probably hasn’t been treated like everyone else since he picked up a basketball. This man child has never had someone get in his face and tell him he was awful. Tell him that even on his best day that he needed to get better. Simply put Lebron needs/needed a dad.
A father (a good one) will always push his son; no matter how well he does. A dad will ask, why you didn’t you hit that shot? Grab that rebound? Dad’s give their children a critique that causes a level of reflection that no one else on the planet can give. They have no motives, no agendas, other than to get the most out of their sons.(good ones anyway) Lebron missed his second chance gaining a father figure when he skipped college. Who could blame him of course, but in skipping the collegiate level he missed an opportunity to be mentored, taught and have certain character traits ingrained him.
Is there any doubt that Lebron would be a better player if he had a year with Coach K? Instead we have become his parents. His fathers, chiding him, deriding his every movement on and off the basketball court. Deep down most of us want Lebron to succeed, to make good on his talent. Our frustration with King James is that for all his talent he hasn’t realized his full potential. We are frustrated by his lack of self reflection, self entitlement and lack of results. We sound like a dad.

Trump Wins
How a Reality TV star punked the President of the United States
As much he may be reviled, laughed at or even worshiped, Donald Trump won a scuffle with the President of the United States. If I’d told you a year ago, that the President of the United States would be forced to do anything by a reality TV personality would you have believed me? Worse yet, Trump forced Obama to do something that he’d already done. By releasing his long form birth certificate (he already had released the short form) Obama gave credence to one of the most preposterous conspiracy theories in American history. The problem is the president really had no choice.
Obama found himself in a classic Catch-22, ignore Trump and only give credence to his claims, respond and stoop to his level of absurdity. When I say Obama was punked, I mean he caved, he and the Donald played a game of chicken and he lost.
The problem is not that Obama gave in because as I’ve said he really had no choice, the true heart of the problem is what our politics have devolved into. At this point a liberal writer would devolve into cries of racism, throwing the race card onto the table as if it were the ace of spades. I’m not a liberal. I’m a conservative (or at least I used to be.)
Much like Jesus said of the poor, conspiracy theorist will always be among us. There will always be a grassy knoll. an illuminati, truthers, birthers etc..What has been disturbing is how mainstream they’ve become. When I first got became following politics roughly 15 years ago, this kind of thing was dismissed quickly and it certainly wasn’t covered by major news organizations.
Donald Trump says Obama is not a US citizen. So…. I think the NBA is fixed who cares? How is it newsworthy that a reality tv star has an opinion about politics? How is it newsworthy that a man who’s been teasing a presidential run since 1988, decides to play the media again? Since when did thinking of doing something become news? Wouldn’t the news be when he actually announced?
The media ate it up; it had all the elements of they love, a high profile person who’s a great sound bite, race, politics and a chance to make republicans look like simpletons. It’s where we are now, the Twitterfication of the world, everything has to be 120 characters, or less, the pithy catchy sound bite. Our culture has become so inundated with information that to truly break through the clutter, one must be instead of ignoring this behavior, the media plays into it, even celebrates it.
No major conservative pushed the birther nonsense, not Beck, Hannity, Rush, or even Ann Coulter, who’s spoken out against it the moment it reared its head. While those people mentioned above are responsible for the current environment that the country finds itself in, they have little to do with this story.
This is the product of a lazy media, more willing to present caricatures and play to stereotypes, than actually report on the news.

Sucker Punch
What you 'll love
Visually arresting: I fell safe in saying that this is the movies only strength, it is a beautifully filmed movies with striking images and striking women.
Eye Candy: If you're the kind of guy who rushes to the mailbox to check out the Victoria's Secrets catalog, this is the movie for you. If you've ever actually had a Girlfriend, no so much.
What you won't
Trite: The old saying about being a Xerox of a xerox of xerox, applies here. The whole movie is so overdone in all areas.
Character Development: They don't even try. They are selling T & A plain and simple.
Plot: My seven year old could have written a more complex plot. Their are literally five items written on a chalkboard and the women must find those items. There you have it folks the second and third acts of this movie.
Not Fun: A lot could be forgiven if this movie was fun, or so awful that is was entertaining. Instead I found myself bored to tears.
Bottom Line: Sucker Punch is the aborted brain child of the Matrix and Inception.
Grade: D

Infinite Vacation 1 Review
What you need to know: Mark lives in a world where alternate realities are up for sale, and buying and trading your way through unlimited variations of yourself is as commonplace as checking your email or updating your status. But when other "hims" start dying suddenly and he meets a mysterious girl who wants nothing to do with "life-changing," he'll learn the truth about the universe he stumbles through, and what happens when your vacation turns on you.
What you'll love
Fresh High Concept: They say there are no new ideas, and they are probably right. Spencer definitely hits on concepts that have been previously explored, the trick is to take something that's been done and turn it on it's ear and Spencer more than does that here.
The Human Condition: It's been said so often that it's now in danger of becoming a cliche. The best story are ones that explore the human condition. Infinite Vacation holds a mirror to our consumerist culture and forces us to examine ourselves. Spencer finds a way to comment on life which being preachy or sappy.
Pushing the envelope: I'm a huge fan of being creative with comic pages, I love writers and artist that push the bounds of the genre. There's one scene in particular where there is a photo of a real person in the book, it's quite jarring at first, I actually turned back to make sure it wasn't a advertisement.
Modern: The danger in having a book that hits so close to the present is that writers have a tendency to get too cute with the material. Spencer avoids this pitfall masterfully. The book is modern and relevant at the same time. I can see people ten years from now reading this and the book holding similar resonance.
Spencer: I've proclaimed(on more than one occasion) that Nick Spencer is the Kevin Durant of comics. What I mean by this is that Spencer, like Durant is not a household name, but is clearly on his way to being at or near the top of his industry. This must be what people felt like when Bendis burst onto the scene.
What you won't: There's not much dislike, the art is kind of trippy but I think that's the point.
Bottom Line: If Morning Glories didn't exist, this would be the book that would turn Nick Spencer into a star. Get on this one early folks. I think we have a great one on our hands.
