Winners and Losers in the Moss trade
Winners
Vikings: On paper the Vikings are super bowl contenders again. It remains to be seen how Moss will jell with his new team on and off the field, but any time Moss steps on the field its a game changer.
Farve: The ole gunslinger had to wonder if he'd made a mistake coming back after the first few weeks, now he's got the number one item on his career wish list.
Patriots: The Hoodie is building something, it's unclear how long it will take for him to get there, but there is a master plan. In reality the Pats weren't going to the Super Bowl this year, better to trade Moss and get something for him, than getting nothing.t. It's the kind of emotionless, tactical response Bellichek is known for.
New York Jets: They may have to deal with him Monday night, but it's probably the last time for a while. After New England's drubbing of Miami last Monday, the Pats appeared to be the only legit threat in the division. A Mossless New England has to have Rex Ryan salivating.
NFL: We all know that the NFL is top dog. But on this day Lord Football stole the spotlight away from the opening day of the MLB playoffs. This year has brought more trade talk than any in recent memory. If teams are making trades during the season, it adds yet another aspect to the Juggernaut that is the National Football League.
Losers
MLB: As stated above naseball started their playoffs on the same day the Moss deal went down. Once again proving that Americas pastime is no longer relevant.
Randy Moss: Moss got what he wanted, but will the grass be greener? Minnesota already has its own dysfunctional environment. Randy's looking for a new contract but is Minnesota a better place to showcase his talents than New England? New England had a younger and better QB, better coaching staff and a better second option at wideout. Time will tell but Moss could quickly turn into TO 2.0 next year on the free agent market.
Cowboys: No team is more affected by this trade. If Moss helps Minnesota right the ship, it spells trouble for Americas team. Personnel wise the only team that is better than Dallas is Minnesota, which was apparent in their drubbing of the Boys in the Divisional playoffs last year. If Moss and Farve click, the Super Bowl will still be in Dallas but the Cowboys won't be there.
Farve: I know he was on the winner's list. However if Farve can't get it done with Moss running fly patterns, then there will be no doubt that it's time for the ole gunslinger to put away his six shooters.
Packers: Yes Aaron Rodgers is phenomenal, Yes the Packers are playing well. Still there's something missing, starting with a porous defense and a offense that is very good but is not as explosive or as balanced as anticipated. Green bay has had one of the best secondaries in the league for the last few years. Good thing, they are going to need it.
Bill Bellicheck: He certainly wouldn't care, but the Hoodie is a loser in this for the foreseeable future. Bill is like the really smart kid in school that lacks social skills. He can solve any math problem but can't muster up the courage to ask a girl out. Bellcheck has created the impression amongst the fans and maybe his team that they are giving up and rebuilding. He may have a master plan and he may indeed be a genius, but more and more Bellichek looks like a nutty professor.
